APFSDS — Penetrator Data Table

Common APFSDS rounds and their dimensions, split by calibre size

A general overview of common APFSDS rounds and their main properties, split by calibre size. Use the Perforation & Penetration Calculator to estimate penetration performance from these dimensions.

Measurement Methodology

The dimensions of tank rounds are determined using a combination of image-based scaling, reference documentation, and direct measurement where available.

For modern rounds, the known caliber is used as a reference to scale images and derive overall length and proportional dimensions. For older rounds, historical figures, technical drawings, and schematics are used as primary references.

When possible, in-person measurements of preserved or accessible rounds are used to validate and refine calculated dimensions.
